Meet Paul & Janice

Q. In what year did you start coming to St Erkenwald's?

I have been at St Erks for all of my life

Q. In what year did you start coming to St Erkenwald's?

Paul: I commenced attending the church with my wife Janice in January 2011.

Janice: I commenced attending the church with my husband Paul this year 2011.

Q. What brought you to the church?

My parents Bill and Anne

Q. What brought you to the church?

Paul: I have been searching for a church to attend, a place I could call home, for 3 years. I was looking for somewhere that had a friendly, family focused feel about it where I would be made to feel welcome and where people would accept me as I am with walts and all.

Janice: Paul and I have been searching for a place of worship where the people would accept us for ourselves. We came to St Erkenwald's without any preconceived ideas and have not been disappointed.

Q. What excites you about church?

St. E's is a fantastic place where you can express your love for God and where the people support you through some of the roughest parts of your faith journey.

It's like having an extra family. People are so open and friendly that it is just a joy to see them every week. I miss church family if I don't go. We all rely on each other to build on our faith and by knowing that everyone else isn't perfect, that 'perfect' doesn't exist, takes the pressure off.

However like every family we all have our problems and we are not a perfect church, but with God at the centre we are all heading for the same goal of seeing His kingdom here on Earth.

Q. What do you get up to during the week?

PauI: I spend most of the week working full time. When I get time I like to relax, spend time with my family, clean my motorbike and ride it (when it's not raining).

Janice: I have recently given up work and am currently looking after my 8 month old grand daughter three days a week. I also see alot of my mum, taking her shopping etc. I enjoy spending time with my family, especially seeing my new grand daughter! I enjoy reading, crochet, word puzzles. I also like to do some exercise.

Q. In what way would you like to see the church grow?

I have a heart for our children and young people of our church. I would like to see more of these history makers in the church body.

I believe that young people are amazing and have so much to offer. As a church we need to support and encourage the passion that young people have by giving them the opportunity to grow and explore faith in this generation. Also I would like to see them praying for others and contributing to the church in what ever gifts God has given them.

I would like to see our young people within the church body committed to Christ, His church and our community - to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

Q. What excites you about church?

Paul: I love church and can't wait to attend to meet people that love Jesus like I do. What excites me is how much the people have a love for Jesus and are seeking to know and experience more of Jesus working in their lives. I love the way that all ages in the church are catered for and no-one is excluded.

Janice: I love the worship in the church. The freedom in worship is great with the encouragement to develop spiritual gifts. The attitude of God' s people is so refreshing and the obvious genuine desire for the Lord and to see Him move is thrilling.

Q. What excites you about church?

Paul: To see the church operating the gifts of the Holy Spirit. To have a live worship band. To see the church growing spiritually and physically.

Janice: To see the church operating the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The music in the church is great and seemless which enables the worship to flow in the spirit. A live band would be great to create a unique worship ministry. To see the church growing spiritually. To encourage people to develop their gifts.
