Action not words
We can all TALK……but what’s the use if the words we speak doesn’t get the message across.
We can all LISTEN, but what’s the use if we don’t really HEAR what’s being said.
So we must DO everything in the name of God and to His glory.
We’re fortunate to be able to live in a country where everything is at hand and, because this is the case, we take everything for granted and become complacent. So what happens when what we expect to have suddenly isn’t there? (for example we have a power cut or snow means the trains stop working). We don’t know how to cope or deal with the situation.
I, like many other parents, constantly found myself saying to my children:
“turn the tap off……people in Africa don’t have running water to hand”.
“turn the lights off….people in Africa don’t have electricity”.
“eat all your dinner…..people in Africa don’t have the luxury of food to waste”.
So I found myself talking, but my words weren’t often heard; the tap was still left running, the lights were still left on, the dinner still left unfinished – all because we’re able to do it without it being detrimental to our way of life.
I first heard of Bill and Keith’s trip to Kenya over a casual conversation and was interested to learn more. The more I learned, the more I felt the Lord say to me, “DO”.
Its time for me to stop just talking about “people in Africa”. Its time for my words to stop falling on deaf ears. Its time for me to do. That’s why I want to build in Kenya. I am finding now that the more I do to prepare for the build, the more the Lord provides that enables me to do even more and its to His glory that I am able to do this.
So what happens when we get something we don’t expect? Like a home to live in and the ability to be able to provide for one’s family. What a luxury!
What happens when we are able to make this happen for someone else? What a privilege!
