What's God Ever Done For Me? - Jan

My testimony – what does that mean? To me it means the moment I was born again, the moment I was filled with the Holy Spirit and realised what I had been missing from my life.

I was brought up as a “Christian” and went to Church regularly as a child. Like a lot of teenagers I drifted from Church but always felt an invisible thread pulling me back, like a lifeline.

I returned fully to Church after I was married and had my first child and continued to worship for over thirty years at a traditional Anglican Church. There were three services on a Sunday and I often went to all three. I became involved in many Church activities, attaining the rank of PCC secretary, amongst other things!

The years rolled by but I still felt at times that there was something missing from my life, that there was something more out there.

My children married and had children of their own, and still there was that something a little way off from me that I was missing.

Then one day, one wonderful day, nearly two years ago now, God called me to go to St Erkenwald's. It is hard to describe the calling; it just kept entering my thoughts at all odd times. I would often find myself thinking about St Erkenwald's. I knew people who attended there and indeed I did know Clive and Catherine, but it was more than that. Friends at my Church told me that St Erkenwald's was “happy clappy” and that the service went on too long. [All true as it happens!], but none of this deterred me, there was still that thought entering my mind to go to St Erkenwald's.

And so, two weeks after my baby granddaughter was born we came to St Erkenwald's. We were greeted as it happens by Clive, as he was at the porch the moment we entered. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and we were made to feel very much at home and part of a big Church family. And the service, well I spent most of the time crying, copious tears just fell from my eyes as the most wonderful feeling engulfed me, which I realise now was the final piece of my jigsaw, that what was missing from my life – the Holy Spirit.

When we left my daughter and I looked at each other “What did you think?” we said in unison. “It was great!” again in unison. And we have never stopped coming and worshipping and praising the Lord in this wonderful place.

I have completed the “Encounter God” and “A Life Worth Living” courses and now attend a home group.

My week now revolves around Church, I just cannot wait for Sunday to come around. I love God and I love my Church, which means not the building but all the people there, Clive and Catherine and my Church family.

And another wonderful thing happened to me at St Erkenwald's – I was healed. I had had a problem with the cornea of my eye and was due to have surgery, when I felt God telling me not to have this. I spoke to Clive and Catherine about it, Clive told me I was healed and to thank God, which I do every day, and banish Satan from my life, again which I do every day and I AM HEALED, not just my eye, but my whole being. Hallelujah! Praise the Lord for He is mighty!

My life has so changed, I am complete and I want everyone to have what I have, the joy, the peace, that fills my very being each and every day, that I know Jesus Christ, that He is my saviour, that He is the best thing that ever happened to me. Amen
